Once retired, Mary Rasp became a more frequent and dedicated volunteer with Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County. Her enthusiasm must be contagious since she was able to organize another large group of ladies from her church, Elkhart First Presbyterian Church, to volunteer once again this year. When we extended the Women Build month into June, Mary was the first to sign up and volunteered several more days. Thank you, Mary!
Several individuals also volunteered multiple times. Big shout out to Janet Fox and Chris Kralovansky for being our top individual volunteers in hours.
Myra Simpson and Carol Wiegner are two more dedicated ladies who organized large groups of friends and associates through church and organizations, to volunteer on multiple days and donate money.
Many students and faculty from Goshen College participated again this year.
Employees representing Interra Credit Union, Key Bank, Berkshire Hathaway, US20 West Walmart, Hoosier Crane Service Company, River Oaks ObGyn, Lisa Yoder of State Farm and Overhead Door participated with many members from their staff.
Churches represented were: Elkhart’s First Presbyterian, St. Thomas – Tom’s Moms, Wayside in Middlebury, Wakarusa United Methodist Church, and Sunnyside Mennonite Church.
Businesses providing lunches included Lucchese’s, Babsco Electric Supply, and SportsTime Grill.
The Kiwanis of Elkhart also contributed two lunches…one on very short notice, and the Kiwanis held a team build for a day.
The Democratic Women of Elkhart County signed up to supply lunches on four days during the Women Build. After providing lunches on two days, they were inspired to sign up for a build day as well. Thank you Democratic Women of Elkhart County!
Several individuals, “Team Mom’s”, made delicious home-made lunches that included colorful presentations. Thank you Sarah McKee, Diane Eash and Tammy Vahala.
Also a big shout out to our partner families who logged in over 200 hours working towards their new future homes. Some of them provided lunches as well.
Special thanks to Miller Building Supply for providing the drywall for Charissa’s home.
We could not accomplish so much during the annual Women Build without our partners in the community helping to build, donate, and provide nutrition.
For Women Build pictures from all these amazing groups, tune in July 1 for the launch of our new website.
TO ALL WHO CONTRIBUTED, AND THOSE WE MIGHT HAVE MISSED RECOGNIZING IN THIS LETTER, WE DIDN’T MISS YOU AT THE BUILD SITE AND WE TRULY APPRECIATE YOUR PARTICIPATION!! THANK YOU!!
